Training on Sunday

Hi everyone,

DeA U7s will be training as per last years schedule this week (and from now on) which means that coaches will be on Pitch 2 (upper level, the far end) setting up for training at 8:30am and we will start our warm up excercises at 8:45am.  Please try to get the kids down there at least for warm-ups.  It will be good to finally have all of the minis together at the same time - for those new to the club, take the time to wander through and see how the skills develop as the kids move up through the age groups.  We will have a little bit of extra time which means we should get a bit more game time every week which makes it a lot of fun for the kids while still giving us enough time to practise the necessary skills.

For your convenience I have put a list of the coaches and their names on the webpage in our U7 section (see http://www.deatigersrfc.com/en/node/9676) please take the time to look at this and also, while you are there, check out the updated laws which are also available here.  We need all the parents to have looked at this so that they can make sure the kids understand the laws and what they can and can't do.  One that we will be starting to work on is taking two steps after the tackle so if you can help to let them know this will be part of the drills on Sunday.

Training on Sunday

Team PhotoWell done everyone last week, it was a great festival and all of us should be very proud of the way our kids played.  They are really coming along in leaps and bounds and the number of near forward passes was testament to the fact that they seem to have a good understanding of this law.  I saw most of the kids getting back on side after the tackle and so it seems that the work we've been doing since Flying Kukris has paid off.  We still need to make sure that the kids remember that its better to be tackled than to run backwards and that they can take their time when they are making a pass to make sure it is a good one.  These are minor points and it was great especially to see a couple of the kids who stepped up and played better than they'd ever done in training, again, well done everyone.

Participation in Tai Po Dragons Festival and HK Rugby 7s showcase

I hope that everyone has recovered from Christmas and New Years and will be raring to go this weekend at Tai Po Dragons Festival...we only had 19 players last Sunday and we have three teams entered so if we don't get enough players we're going to have some very tired 6 years olds!  Could you all please indicate to me by Thursday night whether or not your child will be coming to both the Tai Po Dragons Festival (this weekend, 8:30am the schedule is on the website) and the HK Rugby 7s tournament (March 27-29, U7s should be March 27).

As always, the various festivals tend to be a lot of fun with the kids and the thrill they get from being out in the stadium at the HK 7s in front of 40,000 odd people is something that most of the kids rave about - definitely worth joining if at all possible.  Whilst the HK Rugby 7s are still some time off we need numbers in as quickly as possible to help with the planning of this international rugby spectacular.

Sorry for the short notice.
