Minis Division

Thank you to all Minis members

Dear Minis Members

On behalf of DeA Tigers Minis, I would like to thank everyone for contributing to our successful Xmas party and fun day yesterday. I am constantly astounded by the generosity shown by our members, as the buffet that was served up was truly exceptional. Without such strong support, such events could not be a success. Well done everyone. A special thank you must go to Helen Adams, Roi Boyd and Jim Middleton for organising the activities which were laid on and for arranging the buffet, with the help of many others. Great job guys!

Our U10, U11 and U12 teams stood up to some very strong opposition, i.e. the Singapore Baa Baas, and did us proud. The Singapore boys are picked from all clubs in Singapore and are the cream of their crop. DeA Tigers also don't have as many 6 foot tall 11 year olds like they do!!!!!!!!! Maybe we need to change our kids to a different diet or also get fake passports! Despite the tough battle that our kids faced, they stood up to the opposition and never gave up, so the Tigers are proud of them all.

It will be training as usual on Sunday 20th December and on 3rd January 2010, but there will be no Minis training on 27th December, as the coaches need a well deserved holiday break. On Sunday, our U8s will take up half of pitch 2, as they will be hosting some visiting clubs from HK. We also do not have the use of pitch 3 this week, so all other age groups will also be on pitches 1 & 2.

Go Tigers!!

Xmas Party on Sunday 13th December

Dear Minis Members

This is a final reminder that we will have our Xmas fun day on Sunday, so please come along and enjoy the festive season at King's Park. Helen Adams and Jim Middleton will be coordinating events. Helen, with the help of DeA coaches, will be setting up several fun activities on pitches 2 & 3 between 09.00-11.00 and Jim will be on the PA system asking groups to rotate every 20 minutes, so that all age groups get to participate, with their parents, in each activity. Parents - please come dressed to join in and also to help organise the kids. We also plan to have a kicking competition for adults, after the kids activities have finished, where you may even win a bottle of the finest Park N Shop 2009 wine!! Mums and dads will be invited to participate! I will not take part, so as to give others a chance to win, because with Welsh blood running through my veins I would have a natural unfair advantage!

IMPORTANT!! - May I remind all members to bring along a donation of food, so that we can set up a buffet/feast for all to share. We really depend on your generosity and support to make this a success, so please help by contributing some food or snacks for the party. I LOVE INDIAN FOOD, but this is not a hint or anything!

DeA Minis on Sunday 13th December - Xmas Party and Fun Day

Dear Minis Members

East Asian Games - many thanks to all coaches, parents and kids who took time out to attend the EAG at HK Stadium on Saturday and Sunday. DeA Minis were represented in most age groups and played their hearts out to impress the crowd at the stadium. Each child received a nice EAG medal after they finished their match. For those of you who stayed on, I am sure you were thrilled by the excitement of the men's and women's matches that took place. The men's final was exceptional, with Hong Kong just being pipped in the final seconds by Japan for the Gold medal match, with HK losing 26-24. Our own Rowan Varty scored 2 tries in the final and had an exceptional tournament, ably supported by the HK team which included 4 other DeA Tigers players. I trust that you all had a great weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I know I did!

Xmas party - IMPORTANT!! This Sunday, we will have our Xmas party and fun day at King's Park. May I remind all members to bring along a donation of food, so that we can set up a buffet/feast for all to share. We really depend on your generosity and support to make this a success, so please help by contributing some food or snacks for the party. We will have a visiting team from Singpaore playing against our U12s and U10s on Sunday too, so we have invited them to share the Xmas food with us.

EAG: Re-send of messsage due to website error - apologies if already received!!

Dear All
Just a reminder that there will be no Mini rugby training at King's Park on Sunday 6th December, as DeA will be entering Minis teams at the East Asian Games, at the HK National Stadium. I hope that most people have bought tickets and will come along to watch their kids play and also to support the HK national men's and women's 7s teams as they strive to win medals at the games. Both HK men's and women's teams are in with a great chance of medals. In addition, out of the 12 men picked for the HK squad/team, 5 players come from DeA, so it would be great if we, as a Minis group, are there to support them. Rowan Varty, one of the key players, has been training our U9-U12 age groups this year, so the kids will be thrilled to see him play and score tries against the likes of Japan, Korea, China, Chinese Taipei and Guam!
I attach the schedules for both the Minis showcase at the EAG and for the actual EAG event.
