East Asian Games weekend and schedules

Dear All

Just a reminder that there will be no Mini rugby training at King's Park on Sunday 6th December, as DeA will be entering Minis teams at the East Asian Games, at the HK National Stadium. I hope that most people have bought tickets and will come along to watch their kids play and also to support the HK national men's and women's 7s teams as they strive to win medals at the games. Both HK men's and women's teams are in with a great chance of medals. In addition, out of the 12 men picked for the HK squad/team, 5 players come from DeA, so it would be great if we, as a Minis group, are there to support them. Rowan Varty, one of the key players, has been training our U9-U12 age groups this year, so the kids will be thrilled to see him play and score tries against the likes of Japan, Korea, China, Chinese Taipei and Guam!

I attach the schedules for both the Minis showcase at the EAG and for the actual EAG event.

Please note that the gates will open after 07.00 on Saturday, so make sure you get to the stadium in plenty of time to allow coaches for each age group to check the attendance of all players and to have kids ready to enter the pitch via the West tunnel at least 20 minutes before match time. It is important that all kids who are playing wear their full DeA Minis kit and have a mouthguard, so please ensure they meet this requirement, or your child will not be able to play!! I suggest that all DeA Minis players and coaches meet somewhere between rows 127-130 at the North West stand of the stadium (as you enter via the steps to the entrance gates, turn right and walk to the west stand). You will see that each section of the stadium is numbered clearly. We will be on the pitch level, so no need to go up any escalators or lifts!!

I hope both DeA Minis and the Hong Kong teams have an enjoyable and successful weekend.

Go Tigers!!

Peter (DeA Minis Chair)
