DeA Minis on Sunday 13th December - Xmas Party and Fun Day
Dear Minis Members
East Asian Games - many thanks to all coaches, parents and kids who took time out to attend the EAG at HK Stadium on Saturday and Sunday. DeA Minis were represented in most age groups and played their hearts out to impress the crowd at the stadium. Each child received a nice EAG medal after they finished their match. For those of you who stayed on, I am sure you were thrilled by the excitement of the men's and women's matches that took place. The men's final was exceptional, with Hong Kong just being pipped in the final seconds by Japan for the Gold medal match, with HK losing 26-24. Our own Rowan Varty scored 2 tries in the final and had an exceptional tournament, ably supported by the HK team which included 4 other DeA Tigers players. I trust that you all had a great weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I know I did!
Xmas party - IMPORTANT!! This Sunday, we will have our Xmas party and fun day at King's Park. May I remind all members to bring along a donation of food, so that we can set up a buffet/feast for all to share. We really depend on your generosity and support to make this a success, so please help by contributing some food or snacks for the party. We will have a visiting team from Singpaore playing against our U12s and U10s on Sunday too, so we have invited them to share the Xmas food with us.
The plan is to have the fun activities set up on pitches 2 & 3 from 09.00-11.00 and then the food and drinks from 11.00 onwards, so please ensure you reserve time to stay behind on Sunday and enjoy socialising with all of our members. The bouncy castle will be set up for kids to continue to enjoy to play after the events have finished. Parents - please wear suitable clothing so as to join in the fun and games with the kids. We hope to have tug-of-war, kicking competitions, touch rugby etc. so be prepared to have some exercise. Santa Claus may even show up, so who knows? We also need people to help organise the events, so volunteers on the day would be greatly appreciated.
Singapore trip - our U11s and U8s had a tour to Singpaore last weekend and I am sure they did us proud. I will await official feedback from the coaches once they have sobered up and report back on the details that are able to be printed on the website asap.

Training schedule for December - having consulted with all Head Coaches, it has been decided to cancel training on Sunday 27th December and to resume training on Sunday 3rd January 2010, so we will have one week's break from rugby over the Xmas period to allow coaches to get drunk on one Saturday night of the season without having to come to KP for Mini Rugby early the next morning!! It will be training as usual up to and including 20th December.
Peninsula U12s - just an early notice that a New Year's day tournament will be held at Hong Kong Football Club on 1st January 2010. We entered 10 DeA U12s for the training squad, consisiting of 36 players from all clubs in Kowloon and New Territories. The great news is that 8 DeA U12s have made the final 23 in the squad for the tournament. I hope DeA members can go along on 1st January and support them against the Island teams. This is a whole day tournament starting at 10.30 and going throughout the afternoon, including boys and girls matches from U12s up until U20s, so it is a great spectacle.
OK, that's enough for now. I hope to see you all on Sunday, with at least one plate of food hopefully!
Go Tigers!!
Peter (DeA Minis Chair)
