DeA Mini Rugby Updates
Dear Minis Members
HKFC Festival - I hope that you all had a wonderful time at the HKFC festival. Although it was rather tedious having to queue for food and beverages, the rugby that was on show was terrific. I managed to get around and see several age groups playing and the DeA teams at all age groups were excellently represented and played to a very high standard. It is great to see that we are extremely competitive at all age groups and the results we achieved were superb. A big thank you must go out to our numerous volunteer coaches and for the parents for giving so freely of their time. As a final note, the DeA U12s were tremndous in winning the Plate competition last weekend and the DeA U11/12 girls mixed as a Barbarians team with other clubs to be surprise winners of the girls' Cup competition, so well done to both teams! I am sure they will be showwing off the silverware this weekend and we shall have it put into a cabinet in the clubhouse.
Training on Sunday 21st March - it will be training as usual this weekend. Important to have a good turn-out so that coaches can finalise their preparations for the HK7s festival the following weekend. This weekend Rowan Varty will be at King's Park to coach the U9 and U10 age groups, so I hope we have a maximum turn-out in those particular age groups. Rowan will be one of Hong Kong's star 7s players at the HK7s, so we are extremely fortunate to have him with us this weekend. N.B. The suggested pitch allocation for this weekend is:
U6s & U8s - pitch 3 from 08.30-10.30 (change of venue for U8s to give them more space)
U7s, U9s & U10s - pitch 2 (U7s from 09.00-10.30 & U9s & U10s from 08.45-11.00)
U11s, U12s & U11/12 girls - pitch 1 from 08.45-11.00
HK7s tickets - this is your last chance to collect your HK7s tickets from the clubhouse at King's Park. If you have not collected your tickets, please bring your receipt and HKID card for verification. If you do not collect them this weekend, then there is every chance they will be sold on to other members and your money will be refunded. For those of you who want to sell any full tickets or part tickets, please do this by liaising through Brenton Judge at: 7stickets@deatigersrfc.com Please bring spare tickets along this weekend as there are still lots of DeA members looking to buy them!
Level 1 iRB Rferees Course - for those of you who wish to do the next referees' course, the details are shown below. DeA Minis will pay for any member who completes the course and who provides a receipt for payment. To be clear, this course is for all levels of rugby and is not specific for Mini rugby only:

Easter Sunday - Sunday 4th April is Easter Sunday. Even though this is a holiday, we will have training as normal on this day for those who are not rich enough to leave HK on holiday! Please come along and let the kids get some exercise.
Girls' Festival - there will be a girls' festival to be held at King's Park on the morning of Saturday 24th April. This will involve teams at different age groups, i.e. U5/6, U7/8, U9/10 and U11/12s. DeA hope to enter at least one team at each age group and probably 2 teams at the U5/6 age group. Please, if you have a minis daughter, try to support this event. Let your coaches know this weekend if your child can play. It is on a Saturday morning, from 09.00 until lunchtime. I do not have exact details yet, but will send them out as soon as I receive them.
End of season - Sunday 25th April will be our end of season for DeA Minis. Therefore, we are proposing that we have training up until 10.45. This will be followed by our Minis Annual General Meeting at 11.00-11.30 in the clubhouse. It is is important that as many members as possible attend this. We will review the past season and look towards next season. We will also elect our DeA Minis Committee for the coming season, so we would be grateful to any members who would like to take a more formal and more active part in representing the club, then there are several roles to be filled. If anyone would like to put themselves forward as Chair of DeA Minis for the coming season, then please do, as I feel it is time for me to stand down. My eldest son will move up to DeA youth next season, so with 2 kids in Minis and 1 child in youth I will not have the free time to devote solely to Minis. Please consider this, as it is a very important and fulfilling position. Please email me at welshwhites@gmail.com if you require more information on this. Finally, on 25th April I am going to rely on the generosity of members again by requesting that all members donate some food for a buffet (hello my Indian friends!! I love your food!!) to be held after the AGM, i.e. starting at 11.30. This will be a perfect way to end the season, as all members can share food and drink and socialise after the AGM has finished.
OK, enough from me. I hope to see you all on Sunday and I hope we have a great turn-out at the HK7s. There are still tickets available! I particularly hope that DeA Minis are well represented this year at the HK7s marchpast on the Sunday lunchtime.
U14s Div. 2 Final - please stick around after training this weekend as we have 2 DeA U14 teams competing in the final of the Div. 2 Cup. Great effort by these teams, especially as DeA1 U14s won the Div. 1 Cup, so this shows the strength in depth at our club!! Kick off on Sunday is 11.00, so please give support to these well-deserving kids.
Go Tigers!
Peter (DeA Minis Chair)
