Training on Sunday
Well done everyone last week, it was a great festival and all of us should be very proud of the way our kids played. They are really coming along in leaps and bounds and the number of near forward passes was testament to the fact that they seem to have a good understanding of this law. I saw most of the kids getting back on side after the tackle and so it seems that the work we've been doing since Flying Kukris has paid off. We still need to make sure that the kids remember that its better to be tackled than to run backwards and that they can take their time when they are making a pass to make sure it is a good one. These are minor points and it was great especially to see a couple of the kids who stepped up and played better than they'd ever done in training, again, well done everyone.
As Peter White said in his email, this week we will be down on pitch 3 (where we played on Sunday) from 8:30am in the morning. We are starting to prepare for our own festival, please make sure to bring the kids along so that we can make sure we are well prepared. I didn't get a lot of responses for the 7s showcase so I have only put in two teams - this will be first come first served so please let me know as soon as possible - this really is the highlight of the kids rugby season and something not to be missed.
After this coming weekend we will finally have all our pitch space back and so will have room to take extra players. We've got a great group of coaches and so if your kids have friends who you think might be interested bring them down. If you think your child's school (or another school) would be interested in having a training session with professional coaches from the Hong Kong Mini Rugby Football Union to try to get more kids involved, again, please let me know, Philips is sponsoring a rugby development program where the schools will get electronics equipment in return for running some rugby sessions - any voluntteers to accompany these people so that interested kids come to DeA are more than welcome.
Finally, unfortunately due to the financial situation at the moment the sponsor from last years festival has pulled out and so we are desperately looking for sponsors to try to offset various costs associated with both the festival and general operating expenses of the club. If you or any of your contacts would have an interest in getting exposure through DeA or just want to help keep the costs down I'm sure Anthony Tse would love to speak to you and discuss what we can do in return.
See you on Sunday!
