Training on Sunday

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly versionHi everyone,

DeA U7s will be training as per last years schedule this week (and from now on) which means that coaches will be on Pitch 2 (upper level, the far end) setting up for training at 8:30am and we will start our warm up excercises at 8:45am.  Please try to get the kids down there at least for warm-ups.  It will be good to finally have all of the minis together at the same time - for those new to the club, take the time to wander through and see how the skills develop as the kids move up through the age groups.  We will have a little bit of extra time which means we should get a bit more game time every week which makes it a lot of fun for the kids while still giving us enough time to practise the necessary skills.

For your convenience I have put a list of the coaches and their names on the webpage in our U7 section (see http://www.deatigersrfc.com/en/node/9676) please take the time to look at this and also, while you are there, check out the updated laws which are also available here.  We need all the parents to have looked at this so that they can make sure the kids understand the laws and what they can and can't do.  One that we will be starting to work on is taking two steps after the tackle so if you can help to let them know this will be part of the drills on Sunday.

Our festival is on Feb 16th and Peter White (club Chairman) is requesting volunteers for both pitch marshalling (you can likely be assigned to your child's pitch and so can still watch them) and other duties.  Please volunteer if you can - the club is run on the goodwill of members, participation is the key to keeping it the great club that it is today.  He is also looking for people to bake cakes and other goodies to be sold at the festival to help fund the club.

Finally we are also looking for sponsors for the festival including sponsorship for cup, plate and bowl at the U12 level, banners on the pitch and/or in our festival literature so if your company might be interested in this it is a very cheap way of getting some publicity.  With conservatively 3,000-4,000 people coming down it should be a great opportunity for your company to get exposure.

See you on Sunday.
