Training this Sunday [1]

Submitted by Brenton Judge on Fri, 17/02/2012 - 12:33.

I trust that everyone had a great Sunday at the Valley Fort festival.  Feedback so far has been that the contact age groups enjoyed the seeding of the teams and almost all of our teams did well with the U8 and below doing exceptionally well.  Especialy well done to the U8 Girls team who showed why the boys are scared to play against them with some great wins and excellent teamwork (and having fun of course).

With only one festival left to go (and the Sevens), need people at training to make sure we go out with a bang. Training as usual this Sunday, from 8:30am on all pitches.

See you on Sunday.

Valley fort festival this weekend [2]

Submitted by Brenton Judge on Fri, 10/02/2012 - 14:07.

No training this Sunday - everyone should be at the Valley Fort festival in King's Park.  The program has been placed on the website http://www.deatigersrfc.com/files/Valley_Fest_2012_Final_Program.ppt [3] for the full program, and http://www.deatigersrfc.com/files/2012_Valley_Fort_Festival_-Final_Sched... [4] for just the schedule.  As always, please expect that the organise will not print out the schedule for you and that you need to print out any pages you need.

Important notes for the festival

Please show up at least half an hour before games unless instructed otherwise by your coaches.  Festivals are tough on the coaches as they are generally both refereeing and organising teams, they need your help.

A reminder as well to all parents and players, please be familiar with the code of conduct (here http://www.deatigersrfc.com/files/Code_of_Conduct.pdf [5]) and make sure that you abide by it.  Generally at the end of season, things are starting to get a bit more competitive and it's easy to lose sight of the fact that it is about kids having fun and getting a bit of exercise.

There is no parking at King's Park this Sunday (as with every other festival) and the road will be congested, so don't plan on being able to drive up to the gate.

Training this Sunday [6]

Submitted by Brenton Judge on Fri, 03/02/2012 - 14:33.

This Sunday will be the ;ast training session before the Valley Fort festival, please make an effort to be there.  8:30am kickoff on all pitches.

Special pitches for this weekend

This weekend we have SKS U10s and U9/10Gs visiting us.  To give these age groups more space to play, they will be down on pitch 3 where the U6s/U7s normally are.  U6 and U7s will be on pitch 1 (in front of the club house).

7s showcase

If your son/daughter would like to take part in the 7s showcase, you must let your coach know by this weekend at the latest.  We have no more children's tickets available however some parents may be willing to swap so if you don't have a ticket yet, but would like your child to play, let your coach know as well and tell them that you don't have a ticket.

See you on Sunday.

Training - January 29th, 2012 [7]

Submitted by Brenton Judge on Fri, 27/01/2012 - 17:27.

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Trust that you all had a great Chinese New Year and that the kids have had enough candy from the various relatives and friends that they need a couple of hard training sessions to slow them down before school.  Training this Sunday from 8:30am for all age groups.

7s Showcase

Please let your head coach know if your child has a ticket and would like to take part in the 7s showcase this year.  Each child will only get one game but its quite a thrill for the kids to play in Hong Kong stadium (and hopefully a taste of their future).  If you don't have tickets for your child, we will try to organise it for you but can't guarantee it.  Sunday is the march past which you'll need a ticket for Sunday as well (Sunday's are almost impossible, if you didn't buy them when they were on offer).

No training this Sunday - January 22nd. [8]

Submitted by Brenton Judge on Fri, 20/01/2012 - 11:15.

Happy Chinese New Year in advance.

There will be no training this Sunday, the next training will be at King's Park on 29th January.  The teams made real progress at the TP festival and so we are looking forward to finishing the season on a high note.  With that in mind, it is important that your child attends every training session, please make an effort.

7s showcase

People wanting to take part in the 7s showcase, please let your head coaches know (not me) ASAP.  As with previous years, each child will only get a single game and you must have a ticket for your child to get in to the stadium.  There are usually some tickets available for individual days, but I have no children's tickets left for all three days. U6s will not be allowed in the showcase again this year.

The march past (on Sunday) is again open to all age groups but you will need a ticket for the Sunday to participate.

See you in the year of the dragon.

Tai Po Festival [9]

Submitted by Brenton Judge on Fri, 13/01/2012 - 20:44.

No training this weekend, TP festival is at Kings Park (Happy Valley for U12 and U11/12G).

Festival program has just been put on the website (just received), too large to send out, find it here
http://www.deatigersrfc.com/files/TPRFC_Festival_2012_-_Chairman_message... [10]

Festival arrival

Make sure to arrive at least half an hour before the games are due to start (or as instructed by your coach), it helps them in getting things organised and making it a more fun day for everyone.

Coaches and referees

A couple of teams are having a lot of difficulty getting enough people to help out, please step forward.  Rugby experience is not essential and the club is willing to pay for training courses for anyone who is willing to go the courses.  The club is 100% run by volunteers, if we don't have volunteers everything stops.  Please lend a hand.  Enquiries to Peter welshwhites@gmail.com [11], courses are run very frequently.

Important - Training this weekend not at King's Park!! [12]

Submitted by Brenton Judge on Wed, 04/01/2012 - 13:54.

Happy new year.  I trust you all had a great Christmas and are now keen to get the kids to run off some of the energy they've saved up.

Training this weekend is not at King's Park due to a tertiary rugby competition that is being held there.  Instead, minis will be on the soccer pitch at Hin Tin Playground in Tai Wai, Shatin.  There is only one pitch there however, and so training will be split into two sessions

1) U6-U9 9:30-11am

2) U10-U12 11am-12:30pm

The Hin Tin playground is about a 10 minute walk away from Tai Wai MTR (Exit F) and there is (should be) adequate parking nearby in Hin Keng Estate car park.  Alternatively, I've also organised double decker buses leaving Wylie Rd (ourside the Filipino club) at 9:00am and 10:30am and returning at 11:15am and 12:45pm.  If you'd like to reserve a seat in the bus, please email transport@deatigersrfc.com with your age group and the number of seats you need and we will add you to our list - as with everything, first come first served.

See you on Sunday.

No training this weekend, last days for 7s tickets [14]

Submitted by Brenton Judge on Fri, 23/12/2011 - 13:36.

Quick reminder, there will be no training on either Christmas Day or New Year's Day.  Training on 8/1 will not be at King's Park but there will likely be buses from King's Park if people would like them.  Details to follow.

7s tickets

I still have about eight people on my list who have ordered but have not sent through the deposit slip.  This means we still have a small number of tickets that could be claimed if you get in quickly.  Order at http://www.deatigersrfc.com/en/node/add/7stickets then transfer the money to the account on the form and send a copy of the receipt to accounts@deatigersrfc.com [15]

Tai Po festival

Tai Po RFC festival will be on 15/1.  Please let your coach know urgently if your child would like to join.  I need to give them our team numbers on 24/12 so there is not much time left.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and happy New year.

Where's santa going to be... [16]

Submitted by Brenton Judge on Fri, 16/12/2011 - 13:10.

No training at King's Park for U6-U8 who will be at Flying Kukris ground in Tai Po for part II of the Flying Kukris Mini festival.  Should be a fun day down in Tai Po and their may even be some Christmas treats on the buses for the little tigers.  Santa will be in Tai Po this Sunday and so unfortunately won't be able to join our little post training Christmas party at King's Park.

U9-U12 will be in King's Park for a normal training session.

Buses for U6-U8

Buses will leave at 8:00am for the Flying Kukris festival from the bus bay in front of the Filipino club on Wylie Rd.  No need to come up to the top of King's park.

DeA Christmas party

It'll only be fun if we have lots of people bringing something, so please everyone who is going to stay back to remember to bring some food: cakes, noodles, biscuits, Indian, Thai whatever.  The more variety the better.

Next training

We will not be training on Christmas Day or New Year's Day and we've been told that the pitches are not available on January 8th however with a festival on January 15th, we'd like to have a training session so Tiger's are going to have a special away from King's Park training day.  Further details will be made available in the next email from me.

Festival this week U9-U12 only, no training U6-U8 [17]

Submitted by Brenton Judge on Fri, 09/12/2011 - 18:43.

Hi everyone,

Important: Only U9-U12 are playing at the festival, U6-U8 parents can have a sleep in.  FK will be hosting a festival for U6-U8 next week so their will be no training for U6-U8 for two weeks at King's Park.

Festival schedule has been placed on the website, it can be found here http://www.deatigersrfc.com/files/FK__Contact__Festival_2011_program_-_F... [18]

Please ensure that you bring your mouth guard as no child can play without a mouthguard - they are more expensive to buy at the festivals - and please don't forget to read and abide by the code of conduct http://www.deatigersrfc.com/files/Code_of_Conduct.pdf [5] .
